"Decent backup option, but watch the price"
It works fine for basic backups and I haven’t had any major issues with it. That said, the monthly cost feels a little high for how much I actually use it. If you’re considering it, I’d suggest comparing a few other options first and making sure you’ll really use the features enough to justify the price.

"Restore was quicker than I expected"
My laptop died and I had to restore a bunch of files, so I was sure it was going to take ages. But Carbonite got everything back surprisingly fast, at least faster than I expected. It was straightforward too, without much hassle. I’m definitely glad I had it set up before everything went wrong.

"I renewed my Carbonite plan last week..."
I renewed my Carbonite plan last week, it was such a relief I could’ve cried a little. The reminder email showed up before the charge went through, so I wasn’t blindsided or sitting there wondering what just happened to my bank account.

The price was right there in my account, clear as day, and I didn’t have to go on some wild treasure hunt to figure out what was renewing. That alone felt like a small miracle, because all I wanted was to know what I was paying for without losing my mind.

I’ve dealt with other services where renewals feel like a trap door opening underneath you, so this was weirdly refreshing. It was quick, straightforward, and blissfully drama-free, which is basically all I ever want from a renewal.

"Restore came through when I was counting on it"
My laptop drive suddenly died, and I was convinced I’d lost a bunch of old photos and work files. I mostly expected Carbonite to save the important stuff, but I wasn’t 100% sure until I started checking the restored folders.

The restore wasn’t especially fast or fancy, but i expected it to just work, and it did. I let it run overnight, and by morning most of what I needed was back, which was a huge relief

"the billing could’ve been clearer"
i had a decent experience overall, but the billing part was a little confusing. i wasn’t totally sure what i was being charged for at first, so i wish that had been explained more clearly

I had a backup error pop up sometime last week, or maybe the week before, and I couldn’t figure out what was going on. Tech support checked through my settings, explained the issue in normal plain language, and got everything working again quickly. I really appreciated that they actually knew the product well and didn’t waste my time...

I mainly use Carbonite because the encryption seems legit, i just want my files backed up without constantly worrying they’re floating around unprotected somewhere. Setup was painless, which I appreciated. But wow, some of the settings are not as obvious as they should be. Like, why does backup software always have to make the simple stuff feel like a tiny puzzle? Still, overall it feels safe enough for my backups, so I’m happy with it. Knocked off one star for the initial confusion

Carbonite has been decent overall and does what I need it to do, but dealing with support was kind of annoying. I had an issue with my backup and reached out, but it took longer than I expected to hear back. Once someone finally replied, they were helpful enough, and after a few messages back and forth, the problem got fixed. So it wasn’t a terrible experience, just frustrating when you’re waiting around for an answer.

I’ve been using carbonite for a while now, my favorite part is that I barely have to think about it (which is exactly what I want from backup software). It just runs in the background and keeps my files backed up. I tested a restore to make sure everything was actually there, and yep, the files were right where they should be. I also had a laptop problem once, and carbonite saved me from a big headache. So far, it’s been solid.

I needed to update my billing info and double-check my backup plan, it was easier than I expected. I logged in, found the right sections quickly, and didn’t have to waste time clicking through a bunch of menus. I also changed a few account settings while I was there, and everything saved without any issues. From my experience, that’s really what matters most with account tools, you just want to get in, make the changes, and move on. This did exactly that...

I set up Carbonite on my laptop today and it was... painless. I just downloaded it, clicked through a few steps, and it started backing things up without me having to mess around with much. I’m not super techy, so that was a big relief. Took maybe 10 minutes, tops. Always nice when something just works.

"Really easy to set up and forget about"
Carbonite has been really straightforward for me. I’m not exactly a tech person, but installing it and choosing what I wanted backed up was literally easy enough that I didn’t have to overthink it. Now it just runs quietly in the background, and I barely have to touch it.
I did test a couple files to make sure they were actually backed up, and restoring them wasn’t confusing at all. That’s pretty much what I was hoping for, just some peace of mind without a bunch of extra steps or hassle.

"Saved the Day, Naturally Right When Everything Broke"
We had a server issue pop up at the worst possible time, because apparently that’s when servers like to make things interesting. Carbonite support helped us keep things moving, and while it wasn’t a flawless experience, it was definitely solid. They got us through it without everything grinding to a halt, which I appreciated.

Is there any way to speed up file transfers? i have been a subscriber for a week and only 3% of my files have been backed up and 129000 to go! some days nothing is backed up and some days the total to do goes up! carbonite do not respond to there chat mailor telephone and so i would like to get ouit of the clutches. (a refund would be nice too)

“I have a copy of Carbonite, a separate disc included with a Serif product I purchased. I've been trying to install it since Dec. 10 last year to replace an earlier subscription that has expired I was unable to transfer that product to my new computer). However, I couldn't install the new one because, according to the set-up dialogue: "The Activation Code you entered is already in use." If so, I told a technician, they're induclging in a scam and in a follow-up message another technician replied that there was a mistake and told me to find another number. After the 6th back-and-forth email exchanges yet another tech told me that "We have reviewed your email and related history and believe that due to the complexity of your issue, we would be much more successful and quicker resolving this issue over the phone or by chatting with us." I responded that if they could not resolve the issue by email when they have all the time to study it, how much more difficult would it be with the phone or chat when everyone is obviously under time pressure. Anyway I complied but until now there is no resolution to the situation. I have since decided not to waste my time anymore. Although the techs were polite and many surveys came my way to give an opinion of their service, I'm still holding an empty bag. Has anyone encountered this kind of problem with Carbonite?”
